But druidic divine magic is worshipped and revered amongst the Forfarians. However, "standard" divine magic is almost as rare, due to the long period in which the Forfarians have had no faith in their traditional gods and thus have trained no clerics for many years. Like virtually every "peasant" in the Realm of Mists, Forfarians take a dim view on arcane magic the few Forfarian wizards and sorcerers are generally related to clan ApMorten by blood or marriage. When it comes to magic, Forfarians simultaneously embrace it and reject it. On holidays, they consume two distinct traditional dishes haggis, a sheep offal sausage made of sheep's liver, heart, lung, and meat minced together with oatmeal, onion and spices before being boiled in a sheep stomach, and hetcil dhoar, a pie made of freshwater eel, potato, apples and rich, brown venison drippings gravy. The diet of the Forfarians is similar to that of their Barovian neighbors, although they eat more potatoes and turnips as stables and use fewer spices. The druids live in carefully concealed warrens of hand-dug tunnels, called "sanctuaries", that they use to hide from the goblyns. Their herbalists and healers are considered some of the best in their art in the entire Core, however. Virtually all Forfarians are peasants they marry young, have large families, and pursue agriculture or simply crafts for a living. We're given a short primer, consisting of the following translations: Jewelry is usually polished iron or finely wrought silver, with ecorations in the form of stylized nature motifs - vines, oak leaves and rowan berries are the most common.Īll Forfarians speak their own native tongue, although those established outside of Forlorn usually learn it alongside the native language. Men like to wear fur-lined sporrans, too. To complete the ensemble are sheepskin vests, tartan shawls and cloaks, and sashes in greens, browns and tartans. Men primarily wear loos shirts and kilts, and women wear much the same, although their dresses are longer than the men's kilts. Clan affiliation can be read at a glance by those who understand the unique tartans associated with each clan. Druids are noted as taking a great pride in their red hair, claiming it was a fey gift and even that it's what protected their ancestors from being turned into goblyns.įorfarian clothing stands out with its combination of bold plaids and earthy greens & browns. Hair is generally allowed to grow out, and Forfarian men in particular grow impressive beards and muttonchop sideburns. Nearly all Forfarians are red-haired, ranging from bright auburn to dark brown with a subtle reddish tint to carroty blonde. Their skin is creamy, pale white, liberally scatterd with freckles, and burns easily in the sun. S describes the Forfarians as a "hearty lot", specifically noting they are "husky at the waist, and often barrel-chested". ![]()
